Double Bed Size

Despite its name, most couples find a double mattress too small to sleep on together. The standard length of a double mattress is the same as a single mattress, which also means it’s not a good option for tall adults. Double mattresses are ideal for spare rooms, student flats, sleepouts, and studio apartments. The bedding is often less expensive than its larger counterparts. It takes up less room than a Queen but provides far more sleeping space than a Single mattress. These days more parents are choosing Doubles over Singles for their teenager's bedrooms. It means it will take longer for the children to outgrow the bed (compared with single sizes) and it allows the parent to sit comfortably next to their child when reading to them at night.

Make sure to check the dimensions of your room and have a thought-out plan for how you are going to move your new mattress into its assigned room. It is crucial to be aware of any doors that the mattress will need to fit through and stairwells before reaching the room when moving inside.

Keep in mind that mattress sizes vary from country to country so if you have an imported bed base make sure to measure it prior to purchasing a new mattress. For the perfect night's sleep, it’s important that your mattress fits perfectly on top of your bed frame.
